I Am Not Involved In The Booing Of Governor Obaseki. By Obiora Arinze
Captain Hosa Okunbo has dissociated himself from the booing of Governor Godwin Obaseki and members of the National Campaign Council of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP during their visit to the Oba of Benin palace in continuation of his reelection bid in Edo State.
Reports scooped by Crossfire revealed that Governor Obaseki and members of the National Campaign Council of PDP for the reelection of the governor were booed by the angry mob when they visited the palace of the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II.
Information at the disposal of Crossfire revealed that people who booed the governor and his entourage at the Oba palace were alleged to have been attacked by the supporters of Obaseki, leaving in the wake of the attack bruises on the body of the people suspected to have booed the governor and his entourage.
Captain Hosa Okunbo who was alleged to have sponsored the booers had dissociated himself from such dastardly act.
Okunbo said “I was invited to the place of the Oba of Benin for a very private ceremony which had no bearing at all with politics, and the booing took place outside the palace hours after my private visit. As a responsible citizen and elder state man who respects constituted authorities, I would not in anyway subscribe to disrespect of any constituted authority whether in Edo State or any other State in Nigeria’.
” I sincerely frown at the brazen act of disrespect for constituted authorities by the crowd of young men who became unruly on sighting the entourage of the PDP National Campaign Council and Governor Obaseki at the palace of the Oba of Benin. That I will never ever be a party to plan, plot an action or inaction to embarrass our most reverred father, Oba Ewuare Ii who is nonpartisan, and who plays the role of a father to all sons and daughters of the great Benin Kingdom”.
